Sierra Startup Social comes to Sutter Creek on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, bringing together founders, builders, mentors, and community members from across the Sierra foothills for a casual evening of connection and conversation. This free happy hour is open to anyone starting, growing, supporting, or simply curious about business in the region. No pitch is required — just bring a project, a question, or yourself.
The evening will feature John Azevedo, Founder and CEO of Forager Fuels. Azevedo is building modular, relocatable bioenergy systems that turn forest waste into clean, low-carbon fuel while helping reduce wildfire risk and emissions across California. Guests will have the chance to hear what he has learned building a hardware startup in the foothills and then stick around to connect with others working on new ideas and local ventures.
Food will be provided. The event will be held at La Mesa Tasting Room, a family-run Amador County winery located on Main Street in historic downtown Sutter Creek.
Sierra Startup Social takes place Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM at La Mesa Sutter Creek, 59 Main Street in Sutter Creek, CA.
The event is co-hosted by the City of Sutter Creek, the Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Sacramento State, and the California Starters Coalition, powered by Right to Start.
