Quilter’s Yard Sale

Stock up on all the supplies you need for a summer of quilting at the Quilter’s Yard Sale, June 24th in Sutter Creek. There will be 8 experienced vendors selling quilting, garment and home decor fabrics. They’ll also have a variety of tools, notions, irons, lights, sewing machines and so much more.

The Quilter’s Yard Sale will be located at the Sutter Creek Community Center, 33 Church Street in Sutter Creek California. Doors will be open from 9:30 am to 4 pm. Attendance is free!

Amador Arts T.G.I.F. Summer Music Series

Celebrate the beginning of the weekend this summer with free outdoor concerts for the whole family.  The Amador County Arts Council will celebrate their 23rd year of the Thank God It’s Friday (T.G.I.F.) Summer Music Series.  Each Friday, starting July 16, from 6pm until dusk, Amador Arts will present a free concert and a variety of the magnificent venues around Amador County.  Bring a picnic, law chairs, and your friends and enjoy some of the best local bands covering rock, country, folk, Americana, and more.  The full schedule is below. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Kennedy Gold Mine, Plymouth, and Terra D’Oro Winery performances.  Up to 200 free meals from the Amador Senior Center with Laughton Ranch Catering will be available at the other venues.

Flynn Creek Circus

A unique big top experience comes to Amador County in June.  The Flynn Creek Circus, a rurally-based, circus-theater company, presents ‘Desert Myth’ at the Italian Picnic Grounds in Sutter Creek from June 22nd through the 25th.  Here is a description of the performance from their website:

Featuring wild stunts, hilarious comedy, and mind blowing skills, ‘Desert Myth’ is an acrobatic odyssey. A sudden sand storm separates our nomads from their home. Follow our lost as they journey through the desert looking for the oasis. The Tourist, the Cacti, the Wanderer and the Sand Spirit are just some of the colorful characters you will meet along the way. An eclectic blend of multi-cultural folklore, this provocative tale speaks to a thirst for truth in a dry landscape full of ‘misguides’. Charming and inspiring, ‘Desert Myth’ is a memory making event for the whole family…

Internationally award winning talents from around the globe come together in this star studded cast of creators.  This is the show everyone will be talking about this Summer. 

There will be seven performances over the four days the Flynn Creek Circus is in town.  Tickets range from $18 for a bar stool ticket for single people ready to mingle with others in the crowd to $81 for a bench suitable for two adults and a small child tp $179 for a VIP table for four.  Parking is free for show attendees and beer and other concessions will be available for purchase.  The Italian Picnic Grounds is located at 581 California Highway 49 in Sutter Creek, California.

Sutter Creek Shrimp Feed

On Saturday, June 17th, the Native Sons of the Golden West #17 is sponsoring an all-you-can eat shrimp feed to raise funds for the historic Sutter Creek Grammar School. Enjoy unlimited plates of shrimp, pasta, salad, and bread while helping to raise money to preserve this historic site. Bring your bucks as there will also be a dessert auction, raffle, and no-host bar.

The Sutter Creek Shrimp Feed will be held at the Native Sons of the Golden West Hall at 56 Main Street in Sutter Creek. The Feed will run from 5 to 9 pm.

Empty Bowls

The Interfaith Food Bank of Amador County presents Empty Bowls, a fundraiser to support the work of the Interfaith Food Bank to help the hungry of Amador County. Empty Bowls will take place at the Italian Picnic Grounds on Sunday, May 21st, 2023 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. From the Interfaith Food Bank’s website:

This humble, community-based event is a reminder of the hungry among us. Each bowl represents someone in need of our help, so come share soup provided by the generosity of local restaurants!

Tickets for Empty Bowls are $25. Ages 12 and under are $10. Tickets are available at the Food Bank located on Airport Rd., the Thrift Store located in the Sutter Hill Plaza Shopping Center, and online at feedamador.org.

AAUW Home Tour

The American Association of University Women – Amador (CA) Branch present their 48th Annual AAUW Home Tour. Come celebrate spring in Sutter Creek as you tour five historical homes in the city. In addition, local historic sites such as the Knight Foundry will be open on Tour Day.

Following the Tour, the Creekside Methodist Church will host the The Home Tour. Enjoy coffee, tea or a cold drink while you enjoy a selection of homemade cookies. Gift baskets created by AAUW members and other community businesses will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to benefit AAUW scholarship fund-raising efforts.

AAUW Home Tour Tickets are available for $40 in advanced or $45 on the day of the Tour. To purchase tickets, please visit their ticketing page on Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets can also be purchased at the Feed Barn in Jackson.

Little Shop of Horrors

Watch your fingers because Audrey II needs to be fed. The Amador High School Dance and Musical Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors, the hilarious comedy about a flower shop worker who has a chance at fame and love with the help of Audrey II, a giant, man-eating plant.

The Dance and Musical Theatre troupe will deliver six performances of Little Shop of Horrors. They will have previews at 6 pm on Tuesday, December 13th and Thursday, December 15th and at 2 pm on December 17th. Tickets are $5 and $10 for the family.

The opening performance is set for Saturday, December 17th at 6 pm. Performances will be held also be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, December 20th and Thursday, December 22nd. Tickets are $10 with $20 for the family.
