DESCRIPTION:The Amador County Historical Society will host its 11th Annual Wine & Cheese Tasting fundraiser on Friday\, October 2\, 2026\, at the Amador County Museum in Jackson. \n\n\n\nGuests can enjoy an evening of wine\, cheese\, live music\, raffle opportunities\, and local history in support of the museum’s new Livery Building project. The evening will include live music by Bruce Langston from 6 PM to 8 PM and a special guest speaker\, Ciro Toma. \n\n\n\nThe museum and mine model will also be open for tours from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nThe 11th Annual Wine & Cheese Tasting takes place Friday\, October 2\, 2026\, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Amador County Museum\, 225 Church Street in Jackson\, CA. \n\n\n\nTickets are $40 per person. DESCRIPTION:The Kennedy Gold Mine Speakers Series will present “Ancient Amador: An Inside Look at the Mokelumne Fossil Site” on Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, at the Kennedy Mine Change House in Jackson. \n\n\n\nGuest speaker Greg Francek\, a Ranger/Naturalist with the East Bay Municipal Utility District\, will share the story of fossil discoveries made in the Mokelumne watershed. The presentation will explore prehistoric animals that once lived in the region\, including camels\, rhinos\, ancestral elephants\, and bone-crushing dogs\, as well as several species that may be new to science. Francek will also share some recently recovered fossil specimens. \n\n\n\nThe program begins at 7 PM at the Kennedy Mine Change House in Jackson.
