DESCRIPTION:The Amador County Chamber of Commerce will host a free in-person Business Summit on Thursday\, August 20\, 2026\, at the Kiota Inn in Sutter Creek. This HR-focused morning workshop is open to all employers and small business owners looking for practical guidance on hiring\, wage-and-hour rules\, employee handbooks\, and common workplace questions. \n\n\n\nThe summit begins with registration at 8 AM\, followed by a session on “Hire Right the First Time” from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. This workshop will cover practical steps for writing effective job ads\, finding qualified candidates\, navigating the hiring process\, and improving interview and onboarding practices. \n\n\n\nFrom 10 AM to 11 AM\, attendees will learn about wage-and-hour issues and DIY employee handbooks\, including topics such as exempt and non-exempt classifications\, overtime\, regular rate of pay\, meal and rest period requirements\, and common compliance mistakes employers should avoid. Free one-on-one time for HR questions will also be available from 9:30 to 10 AM and again from 11 to 11:30 AM. \n\n\n\nThe Business Summit takes place Thursday\, August 20\, 2026\, from 8 AM to 12 PM at the Kiota Inn\, 271 Hanford Street in Sutter Creek\, CA. \n\n\n\nRegistration is complimentary but limited.
