Las Posadas

Join the community in downtown Sutter Creek for a beautiful and historic Christmas tradition. This one-night contemporary version of Las Posadas follows Joseph and Mary as they journey through town in search of shelter.
The candlelight procession begins at Immaculate Conception Church and winds down Spanish Street before continuing along Main Street, concluding at the stable in front of the historic Methodist Church. Along the way, participants sing familiar Christmas carols and hear the narration of this timeless story.
Children are invited to dress as shepherds, angels, or animals (stuffed animals welcome). Candles and song booklets will be available at the starting point.
After the walk, enjoy cookies and hot beverages in the Methodist Church’s social hall. Dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes for this unique and heartfelt holiday experience in the heart of Gold Country.
